Neroli, wild herbs and white musk shape Saharienne, YSL's 2015 desert-light composition from Le Vestiaire des Parfums, named after the safari-cut couture jacket Saint Laurent introduced in 1968.
Saharienne is the airy counterpoint in YSL's Le Vestiaire collection. Where Tuxedo goes dark and Caban heavy, Saharienne stays luminous, a citrus-aromatic structure built around bitter-orange neroli and wild herbaceous notes evoking the dry shrubs of the Maghreb.
The opening is bergamot and lemon edged with green galbanum. Sharp, almost grass-cut. The centre carries Mediterranean herbs: thyme, lavender and rosemary, each handled lightly so no single one dominates. The base is anchored in white musk and a soft amber, giving Saharienne enough tenacity to carry through a day in heat without turning heavy.
Warm-weather wear is the natural fit. Reads unisex with a slight masculine lean from the herbs. Performance is moderate: projection sits close to skin within two hours, longevity around six.
