Siam Benzoin

Siam Benzoin fragrance note icon

Siam benzoin is the resin sourced from Styrax tonkinensis, the species native to Laos, Vietnam, and northern Thailand. Compared to Sumatra benzoin (Styrax benzoin from Indonesia), Siam benzoin reads lighter, sweeter, more vanillic, with a cleaner caramel-amber character and less of the smoky-cinnamon profile of its Sumatran counterpart. Perfumers prize it as the sweet backbone of luxury amber accords and as a natural fixative that extends florals and orientals. The material appears in Guerlain Shalimar, Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan, Dior Privee Mitzah, and many Frederic Malle orientals. Siam benzoin pairs especially well with vanilla, labdanum, sandalwood, and rose for warming autumn-winter compositions. Browse Siam-benzoin-led fragrances at the Siam benzoin collection.
