I ordered a fragrance as a gift and it arrived in perfect condition. The whole process was simple, fast, and stress-free. Fantastic product and fantastic service.
Guaiac wood smells smoky, sweet and faintly rose-like, with a creamy, tarry warmth that sits between sandalwood and birch. It is one of the most underrated woods in perfumery and a specialty of South American distillation.

The raw material is Bulnesia sarmientoi (often confused with the true Guaiacum officinalis), a slow-growing tree native to the Gran Chaco region of Paraguay, Argentina and Bolivia. Heartwood is steam-distilled to produce a semi-solid oil that melts with body heat and releases its full smoky-floral character. Guaiacol, a key aromatic molecule, gives the characteristic smoke. The species is now CITES-regulated to protect wild populations.
Guaiac wood is a base note. Perfumers use it to add smoky sweetness to amber and leather compositions, to give depth to rose and iris florals (Feminite du Bois, Encens et Bubblegum), and to bridge woods and incense. It pairs naturally with rose, saffron, vanilla and oud.
Guaiac wood performs best in autumn, winter and evening wear, and suits sophisticated niche and oriental signatures.
