Bourbon Geranium

Bourbon geranium, distilled from Pelargonium graveolens cultivated on Reunion Island (formerly known as Bourbon), is the highest-grade geranium in perfumery. The volcanic soil and tropical climate produce an essential oil with a particular rose-and-mint character: more rose-like than other geranium origins, with a fresh green edge that complements florals and woody compositions equally. Bourbon geranium has been a perfumery staple since the 19th century and remains the reference for any composition calling for "geranium" without further specification.
