Red berries is a composite accord rather than a single ingredient: perfumers blend raspberry ketone, cassis (blackcurrant bud absolute), strawberry furanone, and small fractions of pomegranate to build the bright, tart-sweet impression of a mixed-berry top note. The accord became a designer-perfumery shortcut in the 1990s for adding fruity sweetness without going full gourmand, and remained in the niche segment for compositions that need a sharp opening before settling into woody or floral hearts. Argos Pallas Athene uses red berries to open its composition; one MFK Oud release also carries them.
