Tunisian Orange Blossom

Tunisian orange blossom (Citrus aurantium) is harvested from bitter-orange trees in the Nabeul and Cap Bon regions, where the dry Mediterranean coastline produces a slightly drier, more honeyed neroli than the French Grasse harvest. The local cooperative-driven distillation tradition extends back to the late nineteenth century, when Tunisian orange-blossom water became a staple of North African and Levantine cooking and cosmetics. Matiere Premiere Neroli Oranger at Parfum Central uses Tunisian orange blossom alongside the more familiar French neroli for a layered citrus-floral opening.
