Whiskey

Whiskey in modern perfumery is constructed from peat-smoke molecules (cresols and guaiacols), oak-barrel lactones, and trace fractions of malt and grain absolutes. The accord can lean two directions: peated-Islay-Scotch (more smoky, medicinal, maritime) or bourbon-rye-American (more vanilla, caramel, cooper-aged-oak). Niche perfumery favours the peated reading for its dramatic projection. Nishane Nefs at Parfum Central uses whiskey in its base alongside sage and tobacco, leaning toward the peated-aromatic side rather than the gourmand-bourbon end of the spectrum.
