Nefs, the Turkish word for soul, finds Nishane opening on honey, saffron, and fig before rose and osmanthus develop into an agarwood and whiskey base with leather and amber, for anyone.
Nefs EDP, released in 2019, builds one of the more complex note pyramids in the Nishane range. The top combines honey, saffron, and fig with violet and sage: honey and saffron add a rich oriental warmth from the opening; fig contributes a milky, slightly green fruitiness; violet adds a powdery-sweet quality; sage provides a herbal counterpoint that prevents the opening from reading as simply sweet.
The heart of rose, osmanthus, nutmeg, jasmine, and geranium continues the oriental direction. Osmanthus adds a stone-fruit, slightly leathery quality alongside the rose; nutmeg and geranium contribute spiced, herbaceous depth. In the base, agarwood and whiskey drive the drydown: the agarwood provides deep resinous warmth while whiskey adds a smoky, alcoholic quality. Leather, amber, cinnamon, and cedar extend the composition for twelve or more hours.
