Goldfield & Banks created Pacific Rock Swell to mark ten years of the house, which Dimitri Weber founded in Sydney in 2016. It builds on Pacific Rock Moss, the brand's coastal fragrance, but takes it somewhere darker and more textured, at a 30% concentration. The perfumer is Leonardo Lucheze of Takasago.
It opens on bergamot, cardamom and clary sage. Seaweed gives the heart its saline depth, with geranium, mimosa, fir balsam and labdanum around it, before patchouli, Australian sandalwood, ylang-ylang and ambergris settle into a warm, mineral trail that stays close to the skin.
Spring and summer suit it, on the coast or in the city, and its weight carries it into a warm evening as the air cools. At 30% a little goes a long way, so start with one or two sprays and let the trail build through the day.
