About Nishane Shem EDP

Shem EDP, released in 2021, takes Turkish rose, fruitier and richer than Bulgarian, and pairs it with geranium and cardamom in the top: geranium adds a green, slightly citrus-fresh quality that clarifies the rose; cardamom provides mild spice without the sharpness of pepper. The opening reads as a spiced floral rather than a straight rose soliflore.

Cypriol in the heart is the defining note of this composition: an Indian sedge grass material with a dry, earthy-smoky quality that shifts the rose-spice opening toward oriental territory. Osmanthus contributes its characteristic apricot-leather quality, bridging the floral and the dry heart. Elemi in the base is a resinous material with a faintly citrus-pine character, adding transparency to the leather and vetiver drydown. The base reads dry and smoky rather than sweet. Projection holds for eight to ten hours.
