    About Nishane Shem Extrait de Parfum

    Shem Extrait de Parfum, released in 2021, takes Turkish rose, fruitier and richer than Bulgarian, and pairs it with geranium and cardamom in the top: geranium adds a green, slightly citrus-fresh quality that clarifies the rose; cardamom provides mild spice without the sharpness of pepper. The opening reads as a spiced floral rather than a straight rose soliflore.

    Cypriol in the heart is the defining note of this composition: an Indian sedge grass material with a dry, earthy-smoky quality that shifts the rose-spice opening toward oriental territory. Osmanthus contributes its characteristic apricot-leather quality, bridging the floral and the dry heart. Elemi in the base is a resinous material with a faintly citrus-pine character, adding transparency to the leather and vetiver drydown. The base reads dry and smoky rather than sweet. Projection holds for eight to ten hours.
