Fig smells milky, green and slightly woody, with a creamy fruit centre and a coconut-adjacent softness. It evokes Mediterranean orchards, the smell of a fig tree on a hot afternoon, and is one of the most atmospheric notes in modern niche fragrance.

Two materials are used. Fig leaf absolute, solvent-extracted from the leaves of Ficus carica in Greece and Morocco, gives the characteristic green, milky-sap character. Fig fruit is always reconstructed (no usable fruit extract exists). Together with coconut lactones, violet leaf and sandalwood, perfumers build the complete fig tree accord. Philosykos (Diptyque, 1996) established the modern fig signature.

Fig is a heart note with top-level green lift. Perfumers use it as the star of fig-tree compositions (Philosykos, Premier Figuier, Un Jardin en Mediterranee), to add creamy green depth to unisex florals, and to bridge green and gourmand families. It pairs beautifully with coconut, sandalwood, almond and iris.

Fig performs beautifully in spring, summer and warm weather, and suits holiday-adjacent unisex signatures.
