Matière Première is the Paris-founded niche house created by Aurélien Guichard, a seventh-generation master perfumer raised inside the Robertet family, one of the largest natural ingredient suppliers in the world. The name translates as "raw material", and the brand's premise is unusually literal: each fragrance is built around a single central natural ingredient, dosed at the highest level the composition can carry, with supporting notes arranged to amplify rather than mask the hero.

The result is a catalogue that reads more like a museum of perfumery raw materials than a typical commercial collection. Vanilla Powder centres on Madagascan vanilla absolute. Parisian Musc is a study in white musk transparency. Cologne Cédrat builds around Calabrian citrus, Crystal Saffron around saffron, and Falcon Leather around suede and incense. Naturals come predominantly from Grasse and the Robertet supply chain, including ingredients the house grows or contracts directly.
