Xerjoff Five UAE Exclusive: A Rose and Oud in a White Bottle, and What It Smells Like
Share
Xerjoff Five is the rose and oud of the Xerjoff UAE Exclusive collection, a white-bottled perfume that Xerjoff says is "deeply rooted in the art of Arabic perfumery". Saffron, pink pepper, coriander, bergamot and dried fruit open it, rose, oud and a touch of caramel form the heart, and tonka, vanilla, cedarwood, oakmoss, ambergris and white moss sit underneath. Rose and oud is one of the most searched pairings in perfume, with "rose oud perfume" drawing around 16,000 US searches a month on Google Keyword Planner and rising. This guide explains what Five smells like, how Xerjoff frames it, and how it differs from its white sibling, Four.
What is Xerjoff Five?
Five is number five of the seven perfumes Xerjoff created in honour of the United Arab Emirates. The house presented the collection at Beautyworld Middle East in Dubai in late October 2025 and released it in December, timed for Eid Al Etihad, the UAE's National Day. Each of the seven takes a colour from the national flag, and Five is one of the two white bottles. Xerjoff titles its product page "a Dubai boutique exclusive".
Xerjoff describes Five as a fusion of "oriental, spicy and floral elements", a mix of "delicacy and depth, light and darkness". It names the classic combination of rose and oud as the thread that "connects Five to the history and culture of the country it is dedicated to". You can see how Five fits among the other six in our guide to the Xerjoff UAE Exclusive collection.

What does Xerjoff Five smell like?
It opens warm and spiced, blooms into rose, and settles into a soft, ambery base.
| Stage | Notes | What they bring |
|---|---|---|
| Top | Dried fruit, coriander, saffron, pink pepper, bergamot | A spiced, slightly jammy opening with a citrus lift |
| Heart | Rose, caramel, oud | The rose and oud pairing, softened by a hint of sweetness |
| Base | Tonka bean, cedarwood, vanilla, oakmoss, ambergris, white moss | Warm and smooth, with a mossy dryness |
Saffron sits at the top with pink pepper and coriander. It gives a leathery, honeyed warmth that is a hallmark of Middle Eastern perfumery and prepares the way for the rose.
Rose and oud meet in the heart. Rose is bright and sweet, oud is dark and woody, and each balances the other. Our guide to rose and oud perfume explains why the pairing has lasted for centuries and what makes Taif rose special.
Caramel is the surprise. Xerjoff places it in the heart beside the rose and oud, where it adds a soft, golden sweetness rather than a dessert note.
Oakmoss and white moss in the base keep the finish from turning too sweet. They add a dry, slightly green depth under the tonka and vanilla.
"The classic combination of rose and oud connects Five to the history and culture of the country it is dedicated to." (Xerjoff)
Why rose and oud for the UAE?
Rose and oud have been blended together in Arabian perfumery for centuries, long before European houses built perfumes around them. That is the connection Xerjoff draws. In its own words, Five is "a harmonious scent with an olfactory signature which is deeply rooted in the art of Arabic perfumery".
Fragrantica's coverage of the launch puts it the same way, describing a perfume that "finds its soul in the timeless pairing of rose and oud, the symbols of the region's heritage". What makes Five Xerjoff's own take is everything around that core: the saffron and dried fruit on top, the caramel in the heart, and the mossy base. If you are new to oud itself, our guide to what oud is explains the material.

Xerjoff Five vs Xerjoff Four: the two white bottles
Five and Four share the white flacon, but they go in different directions.
| Xerjoff Five | Xerjoff Four | |
|---|---|---|
| Glass | White | White |
| Character | Spiced rose and oud | Date gourmand |
| Top | Dried fruit, coriander, saffron, pink pepper, bergamot | Dates, Pomarose, North African chamomile |
| Heart | Rose, caramel, oud | Bitter almond oil, cypriol oil, Somalian olibanum oil |
| Base | Tonka, cedarwood, vanilla, oakmoss, ambergris, white moss | Saffron accord, labdanum |
| Oud listed | Yes | No |
Both carry saffron, but Five uses it as a spice in the opening while Four keeps it for the base. Choose Five if you want rose and oud, and Xerjoff Four if you want something sweeter and more resinous built around dates.
Another rose and oud made for the Emirates
Xerjoff is not the only house to answer the UAE with rose and oud. Roja United Arab Emirates also pairs rose with oud, with bergamot, Rose de Mai, jasmine and clove leading into agarwood. Five is spicier at the top and sweeter in the heart, with its caramel and dried fruit, while the Roja leans more floral. If you are deciding between two UAE tributes, that is the main difference.
The white flacon
Five shares its frosted white glass with Four. White is one of the four colours of the UAE flag, and the seven bottles between them use all four: red for One, green for Two and Three, white for Four and Five, black for Six and Seven. The shape is Xerjoff's own, faceted and topped with a tall gold cap, with a gold "X" plaque and a gold numeral 5. Brushstrokes painted across the glass are meant, in Xerjoff's words, to mimic the moving sands of the desert.
How to wear Xerjoff Five
Rose and oud reward a light hand. Two sprays on the neck and one on the wrist carry Five through an evening, and the saffron opening is at its brightest in the first half hour. In warm weather, spray it on clothing rather than skin so the caramel and oud stay soft. Five pairs naturally with formal dress and gold jewellery, and it is a considered choice for weddings, Eid gatherings and dinners where the room expects something rich.
Who Xerjoff Five suits
Five is for people who want a rose that feels rich rather than delicate. It works well if you:
- Already love rose and oud and want a spicier, warmer version.
- Like saffron and want it upfront rather than hidden in the base.
- Want a perfume for formal evenings, weddings and celebrations.
- Prefer a finish that stays smooth and mossy rather than smoky.
Five, to us, is an autumn and winter evening perfume for occasions where you want to be noticed. Two sprays are plenty at first.

Yes. Xerjoff names the classic combination of rose and oud as the heart of Five and the link to the history and culture of the UAE.
