Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica and Lonicera caprifolium) yields almost no extractable oil, so the perfumery accord is reconstructed from jasmine absolute, ylang-ylang, linalool, indolic florals, and faint nectar-honey accents. The result smells sweet, slightly fruity, and unmistakably summery, with a tropical edge that distinguishes it from rose or jasmine. The note appears in many classical feminine compositions (Estee Lauder Beautiful, Lancome Climat, Jo Malone Honeysuckle and Davana) and continues to appear in newer niche releases that lean into the indolic-floral side of the spectrum. Honeysuckle pairs especially well with jasmine, ylang-ylang, white musk, and green leaves. Wears best in late spring and early summer evenings.
