Liatris

Liatris (Liatris spicata, often called blazing star or gayfeather) is a North American prairie wildflower whose root yields a coumarin-rich essential oil with a hay-and-tonka warmth that bridges between fougere and oriental constructions. The note appears rarely in mainstream perfumery because Liatris harvest is small and the oil expensive, but niche perfumers turn to it when softer, less sweet coumarin warmth is needed without the full sweetness of tonka.
