Thailand Oud

Thai oud is the resinous heartwood of Aquilaria crassna, the Thai-region species of agarwood tree, distilled in small batches across the Trat and Chanthaburi provinces. Compared to Cambodian or Hindi oud, Thai oud is lighter, sweeter, and more honeyed, with less of the smoky-leather animalic profile of Indian distillates and less of the dry barnyard of Laotian sources. It carries a candied-fruit top with a soft incense base, which makes it the easiest oud to wear for newcomers and the most-blended Asian oud in modern niche perfumery. Several Fragrance du Bois, Initio Carnal Blends, and Amouage Oman-heritage releases use Thai oud accords. It pairs naturally with rose, saffron, sandalwood, and patchouli.
