About Frederic Malle Bigarade Concentree EDT

Jean-Claude Ellena composed Bigarade Concentree in 2002 as a formally ambitious citrus fragrance. The opening is deliberately complex: bitter orange anchors a composition that layers mandarin, grapefruit, tea, cardamom, pink pepper, and blackcurrant. Each note adds a facet of the bigarade profile rather than competing for dominance.

Caraway and neroli in the heart are an unusual combination, caraway's dry, seed-like spice quality sitting alongside neroli's bright orange blossom character. Honeysuckle and orris add floral warmth. Grass and hay in the base give the drydown an unusual green-chypre quality, with cedar providing dry structure and tonka bean adding the lightest touch of sweetness. The result is a citrus fragrance with unusual intellectual depth. Longevity is four to six hours at EDT concentration.
